Oakmont Village Association, a Premier Active Adult Community, is incorporated into the beautiful City of Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa has a population of 151,000. Located 52 miles from San Francisco; it is the largest city between San Francisco and Portland, Oregon.

Santa Rosa offers a broad selection of cultural and intellectual activities including its renowned local symphony, theater, and a year-round schedule of events and visiting artists at the nearby Luther Burbank Center for the Arts. Santa Rosa Junior College offers a wide range of classes, day and night, year-round, as well as community lectures and performances of all the arts. The College art museum and planetarium are also of interest, as is the nearby county museum of art and history. A world class concert facility a la Tanglewood will soon be under construction at nearby Sonoma State University. Several local stages provide regular theater offerings.

There is a huge fairground with display areas and special seasonal events, a park system which maintains 45 neighborhood and community parks, and several senior centers with ongoing special interest classes, charter trips and events. There are movie theaters in town, a large Sonoma County library system with four branches to serve you which offer computer and internet access. Santa Rosa was the home of Charles Schultz, creator of "Peanuts". Charles Schultz' ice arena is very popular. A wide selection of special promotions and entertainment underwritten by many nearby wineries occur year-round. Restaurants throughout the county are outstanding in quality and variety. Two excellent restaurants within Oakmont include the Golf Club’s Quail Inn at Oakmont.

Higher Education

California State University (Sonoma State) and Santa Rosa Junior College offer fine opportunities for continuing education and cultural enrichment.

Communication

The City is served by 5 newspapers, 7 radio stations, a PBS television station, cable television service and reception from 15 Bay Area and Sacramento television stations.

Travel is more fun with friends and neighbors, and the Oakmont Village Association offers a wide variety of one and two day trips. Numerous travel agencies in Santa Rosa offer a world wide menu of tours and cruises, many of them designed with Oakmont groups in mind. Two international airports are within driving distance, with 24 hour airporter bus service available. San Francisco International Airport is less than two hours away.

Commercial activity within Oakmont consists of small service and retail businesses – several banks, a post office, medical-dental-vision offices, restaurants, realtors, a convenience market/deli, a service station, RV and mini storage, etc.

Santa Rosa has 2 covered shopping malls with major department stores, numerous open malls and specialty shops, discount stores, Sonoma County and California State offices, brokerages, insurance representatives, attorneys, etc.
