SANTA ROSA, CALIFORNIA
Community Amenities

Places of Worship

Non-denominational religious services are held at Oakmont's Community Center and a Catholic Church is adjacent to Oakmont. Many different religions are represented throughout Santa Rosa.

Shopping

Commercial activity within Oakmont consists of small service and retail businesses – several banks, a post office, medical-dental-vision offices, restaurants, realtors, a convenience market/deli, a service station, RV and mini storage, etc. Because Oakmont is a part of the city of Santa Rosa, major services are minutes away.

Circulating Bus

A special City Bus circulates throughout Oakmont Monday through Friday and makes a daily trip to one of two local shopping centers. Connections with County and City transit are also available.

Airports and Travel

Travel is more fun with friends and neighbors, and the Oakmont Village Association offers a wide variety of one and two day trips. Numerous travel agencies in Santa Rosa offer a world wide menu of tours and cruises, many of them designed with Oakmont groups in mind. Two international airports are within driving distance, with 24-hour airporter bus service available. San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport are less than two hours away.

Communications

The Oakmont Village Association ("OVA") publishes a newspaper twice a month informing residents of the various activities that are taking place within the community. It is mailed to each household without cost.

Community Services

Police protection and fire fighting services are provided by the City of Santa Rosa. A fire station is maintained within the community. A private company patrols three Oakmont community facilities. The headquarters for the 911 emergency response team is less than a mile away. A county-wide "Vial for Life" program, implemented by volunteers, involves placing a small container with vital information about medications, health conditions, etc. of family members, in the refrigerators of each household. This gives emergency workers prompt access to sometimes crucial medical information if the person is in trouble and cannot speak.

OVA supports a number of committees that center on close contact with area development, with disaster emergency procedures, and liaisons with Santa Rosa City bus services and other City responsibilities.
